The first in our series of trail running holidays that showcase Ireland's diverse landscapes, including coastal trails, rugged mountains, verdant forests and serene lakeshores. 

7 Days - South West to Midlands and East (Race) Ireland

Dates: 22nd - 28th September 2025

Day 1: Killarney

Morning Arrival

Take the Scenic train journey from Dublin to Killarney. We meet you at Heuston station and we can chat about our plans during this scenic journey.

Afternoon Exploration

Start your adventure with a scenic trail run through the heart of Killarney National Park. Explore ancient woodland and enjoy stunning views of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks. Afternoon, discover the beauty of Muckross House and Gardens. Visit the lakes of Killarney and admire the breathtaking landscapes.

Evening Relaxation

Unwind with a relaxing evening in Killarney town. Enjoy dinner at a local pub or soak in the peaceful ambiance of your accommodations.

Day 2: Dingle Peninsula

Morning Run

Embark on a challenging yet rewarding trail run along the Dingle Way. Discover hidden coves, ancient monuments, and breathtaking coastal views.

Afternoon Exploration

Lunch and the afternoon is yours to enjoy the charming town of Dingle and explore the local shops and pubs.

Day 3: Macgillycuddy's Reeks

Morning Run

Challenge yourself with a run or climb to the in Irelands highest mountain range. Hike to the summit of Carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in Ireland. This iconic mountain stands taller than the rest on a challenging day. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and lakes below. (Weather dependant)

Take a trip along the scenic Ring of Kerry. Admire the bays and the mountains that surround. There's an option to dip in the bay and Sauna this afternoon!

Evening Relaxation

Relax and unwind in our accommodations. Enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant and prepare for the next day's adventures.

Day 4: Head for the heartlands

Follow the south coast

Enjoy a scenic drive to Irelands hidden heartlands as we travel towards Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny. A run along Irelands great greenway (former railways), taking in the beauty of the landscape crossing viaducts and through tunnels.

Want something a little different? Tonight we stay in the town of Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny. Set amongst rolling hills, woodlands and river.

Day 5: Kilkenny

Morning Run

A gentle shake out along the Barrow Way followed by a stop in the quaint riverside St Mullins Cafe.

Restful Roam

Explore the town of Kilkenny, take a tour of the city, visit one of its castles, catherdrals or brewery and browse the local shops.

Day 6: Race day!

An early start

Enjoy a scenic drive as we head for our event. Eco-Trails is an Eco-resonsible trail running event that takes place in the beautiful 'Garden County'

Overnight Wicklow

Day 7: Restful Tour of Wicklow and Return to Dublin

After a restful morning recovering, we will take you on a short scenic tour of the Wicklow Mountains before returning to Dublin approx 6pm, where it all began

Difficulty LevelChallenging - Expect to cross rough mountain trails involving some, steep ascents/descents away from civilization.

Each day is suitable for runners who are fit and active and can comfortably run and walk 6 up to 15 kilometres in a day. The nature of the runs involve lots of stops and are fully supported. we are with you every step of the way

Our time on the trail will typically be between 3-4 hours per day and each day will include some culture. Additional optional activities will be at your own expense.

Accommodation

We will stay in comfortable accomodation, where best possible with access to food. When we stay more remote, transport to the nearest town is provided.

All transport on board our comfortable minibus.

Support and Guiding

With the exception of race day, you are accompanied on all runs/walks by a qualified and experienced guide.

The Team

Kathryn

Chief guide, a graduate in outdoor education, Kathryn has worked as a mountain leader guiding groups worldwide in countries such as Morocco, Costa Rica, Borneo, Vietnam, South Africa and Sri Lanka. More recently leading groups freelance around the Irish mountainside. As a hiker, climber and mountaineer, Kathryn has lived in the French and Swiss Alps. However more recently, Kathryn's time has been spent exploring the more local Irish and UK hills. Kathryn is first aid trained, Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor.

Darran

Guide, transport; logistics. Also a graduate in Outdoor Education with Geography, Climate, Sustainability and Environment. Darran’s jobs have been wide and varied from raft guiding to beekeeping. He has consolidated his experience in the mountains leading groups for outdoor centres and has spent much of his adult life in the hills. Winter seasons in the French Alps didn't fulfil his insatiable love of snow. With some 4000+ metre winter summits in the bag. He is a qualified International Mountain Leader and Wilderness First responder. Darran’s chief role in Two Rock Outdoors is managing transport & logistics as well as group leader. He started out driving buses in an Irish outdoor education scene & has driven buses through the most challenging alpine conditions. Darran has a passion for wild flora, fauna and environment as well as the history & folklore of the land.
